**Job Description** This position provides a wide variety of cleaning services and other related duties required to keep the Nome Public Schools facilities in a clean and orderly condition. _This position is reserved for high school students, living in Nome, ages 16-18 years of age. All students below the age of 18 years will be required to submit a work permit._ **Responsibilities** + Clean, sweep, vacuum, mop, sanitize and/or restocks; hallways, stairways, offices, food preparation or break areas, offsite areas, restrooms, public areas, or other work areas as assigned. + Opens facilities for non-school usage on weekends and evening events. + Sweeps, mops, scrubs, strips, extract, waxes, buff, vacuums, etc. all types of floors using appropriate equipment. + Dusts both low and high areas and wipe down or cleans various surfaces. + Uses appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions for all tasks. + Removes and properly disposes of discarded materials. + Removes and transports trash to the appropriate disposal areas. + May compact trash. + Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned. **Qualifications** + Some combination or education or experience that evidences a working knowledge of cleaning equipment and general cleaning processes. + Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English. + All students below the age of 18 years will be required to submit a work permit. **Working Conditions and Physical Requirements** Weather: Indoor/Outdoor (Occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions) Noise level: Moderate Office conditions: Pace of work environment: Medium Customer Interaction: Medium Description of environment: School facility Frequently required to walk and stand. Occasionally required to lift. Rarely required to pull and push. Physical requirements: Must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
