Role Overview

Client is seeking a Technical Project Manager / Release Manager to support enterprise-scale programs. This role combines traditional IT project management with hands-on release management responsibilities. While the position is primarily remote, candidates must be able to commute to one of the listed cities for hybrid work as required. The role includes occasional Sunday work (about 2 per month) , with a compensatory day off during the week.

You'll join a core project team of 5 and collaborate with an expanded team of ~30 members , working closely with product owners, scrum masters, engineers, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex mid- to large-scale IT projects across planning, execution, and delivery.
• Oversee release management activities , including scheduling, coordination, and resource allocation.
• Drive daily standups, track tasks and defects, and ensure timely updates in management systems.
• Support infrastructure-related projects, including colo/data center migrations, WAN/LAN upgrades, and engineering initiatives .
• Partner with scrum masters and product owners to maintain momentum on project deliverables.
• Track budgets, schedules, staffing, and risks; provide regular status updates to leadership.
• Ensure release readiness and coordinate testing and implementation activities.
• Apply Agile, Scaled Agile (SAFe), and CI/CD best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with business goals.
• Document processes, track progress, and present situational updates to executives.
• Offer weekend/after-hours support as needed to meet release schedules.

30-60-90 Day Expectations

• 30 Days: Complete onboarding and become familiar with project processes.
• 60 Days: Lead release management activities independently.
• 90 Days: Expand responsibilities into broader technical project management leadership.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical experience.
• 5 7 years managing IT projects, programs, or infrastructure initiatives.
• 5 7 years of release management experience.
• Background in infrastructure/data center operations or large-scale migrations.
• Strong expertise with M365 tools, MS Project, and Gantt charts .
• Familiarity with Agile frameworks and experience in CI/CD environments .
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills ; ability to clearly convey technical updates.
• Strong time management, documentation, and collaboration skills .

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with colo/data center migrations .
• Engineering/design background.
• Knowledge of WAN/LAN environments .
• Process improvement expertise.

Soft Skills

• Strong communicator who can collaborate across teams.
• Able to follow directions while contributing proactively.
