This role involves assessing patients, implementing care plans, assisting with endoscopic procedures, administering treatments, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. Strong clinical expertise in endoscopy, critical thinking, excellent communication, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and professional ethics are essential for success in this role.Essential Work Functions:Educate and explain endoscopic procedures and treatments to patients and familyAdminister prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques for endoscopyPrepare endoscopic equipment and assist physicians during endoscopic examinations and treatmentsMonitor patient safety and comfort throughout endoscopic procedures, ensuring adherence to safety protocolsObserve and document patients’ conditions and reactions to medications and treatments, promptly notifying supervisors or physicians of significant changesTake and record, assess patient condition, and respond appropriately in the endoscopy settingConduct nursing assessments and document findings in patient medical records accurately and timelyCollaborate with gastroenterologists, anesthesiologists, and other team members to provide comprehensive careHandle specimens with precision and care to maintain diagnostic integrity and follow institutional protocolsStay informed about advancements in endoscopy nursing and incorporate evidence-based practices into care deliveryPerform other duties as assigned within the scope of practiceAdhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standardsRequired Essential Skills:Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skillsThe ability to read, write, & communicate in the English language is requiredAbility to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skillsPhysical Abilities - Remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bendingInterpersonal Skills - To work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalismTechnical/Motor Skills - Ability to grasp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public, customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally as well as working without assistance from other personnel.
