Job Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Hypertension Research Clinic is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator II. The candidate will coordinate study visits with patients and research staff to ensure adequate data collection while organizing and planning community events to spread awareness about cardiovascular disease. This role involves identifying and partnering with key stakeholders to increase awareness and recruitment among communities, as well as implementing processes and procedures to increase efficiency among the laboratory operations.

General Responsibilities

• To serve as coordinator for studies and provide support to other team members within the confines of the protocol as directed.
• To support screening and participant eligibility determination, working with more senior team members to ensure compliance.
• To conduct activities in accordance with the protocol, regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
• To assist with the study life cycle from start-up to closure, i.e., collecting and recording data, recruiting and performing follow-up with participants, scheduling visits and assisting in coordination of lab and fieldwork.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Responsible for meeting and reporting recruitment goals set by the National Institute of Health, creating and maintaining IRB submissions, amendments, and reviews required to recruit human subjects, and managing junior staff and student assistants in their daily tasks.
2. Oversees data collection and ensures safe storage using REDCap, running analytes including MRproANP, NTproBNP, and BNP on dedicated analyzers and reporting results, and obtaining informed consent from study participants while providing patient education about ongoing processes and procedures.
3. Designs, creates, and disseminates all advertisements, flyers, social media posts, and merchandise to support research initiatives.
4. Performs other duties as assigned.

Annual Salary Range: $50,050 - $81,330

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.

Preferences

Experience with conducting cardiology investigator-initiated and industry clinical trials strongly preferred.

Hard Skills: REDCap proficiency, laboratory analyzer experience (MRproANP, NTproBNP, BNP), IRB submission knowledge, GCP guidelines familiarity, Microsoft Office proficiency, and social media/graphic design capabilities.

Soft Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, excellent organizational skills, leadership experience with staff supervision, cultural competency for diverse populations, attention to detail, and collaborative problem-solving skills.
