Job Summary:

The Environmental Health, and Safety Manager will implement policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position also fulfills the Training Manager role and will be responsible for identifying and assessing training needs, creating tailored training plans, and implementing various training methods to enhance employees' skills and performance, monitor training program effectiveness, manage budgets, and stay updated on aviation maintenance training trends. Must have an A&P license, extensive aviation maintenance hands on experience, familiar with FAA maintenance training requirements, capable of conducting aviation maintenance hands on training sessions on the aircraft or in back shop environment

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
  • Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.
  • Develops health and safety procedures for all areas of the company.
  • Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
  • Monitors compliance with safety procedures.
  • Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings.
  • Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
  • Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required; Master's degree desirable.
  • Five years of related experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.

  • Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in the aviation community.
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, outside weather conditions and the noise level in the work environment is occasionally very loud. (Aviation and loud aircraft engine noise).

Travel expectations approximately 30-40%.
